Potterland Farm and Smokery is based in picturesque south west Scotland. We're just a short drive from the market town of Castle Douglas, famed for being a designated Food Town.
Potterland has been in the Baird family for nearly 100 years. James’ grandfather was a tenant farmer here in the 1930s before James’ dad took it on.
After inheriting the family farm in 2009, we reduced the stock levels of our beef cows and sheep to decrease some of the workload and pressure.
James then used his engineering skills to build a smoker, and we've diversified by smoking our own lamb right here on the farm.
